FluidFlow Support Updates + Maintenance (SUM) Policy

What is SUM?

Support Updates + Maintenance (SUM) keeps your FluidFlow software current and supported.

Annual SUM cost: 24% of current list price.

SUM includes:

  • Technical support via email (48-hour response)

  • Basic modeling assistance and troubleshooting

  • Access to all software updates (major and minor)

  • Complimentary basic on-demand training

  • License replacement protection

  • Multi-year renewal discounts (size-dependent)

Important: SUM is required for perpetual license replacements. Without active SUM, we cannot replace lost licenses.


Continuous Active SUM Customers

Customers who have maintained continuous active SUM without any lapse are entitled to the following benefits:

  • SUM renewal at 24% of legacy rates (existing discounted rates are honoured)

  • 20% discount on current list prices for new perpetual license purchases

  • Perpetual license replacement rights at no additional cost

Any lapse in SUM coverage will result in the permanent loss of legacy rate entitlements.


Lapsed SUM Customers

Grace Period Customers have a 2-month grace period following SUM expiry. Renewing within this window maintains all existing entitlements, including legacy rate access, at the standard 24% renewal rate.

Reinstatement Rates (After Grace Period) Customers who reinstate after the 2-month grace period will pay the following rates based on time since expiry:

Lapsed More Than 36 Months

Customers whose SUM has lapsed for more than 36 months lose legacy rate entitlements and perpetual license replacement rights. These customers have two options to get back on track:

Option 1: Reinstate Existing Licenses Existing perpetual licenses can be reinstated at 80% of the original purchase price. This restores SUM coverage and replacement rights for the reinstated license pool. A 20% discount on current list prices applies to any new perpetual license purchases made alongside reinstatement.

Option 2: Purchase New Licensing Customers may purchase new perpetual licensing at a 20% discount from the current list price as a new license pool. This may be preferable where licensing requirements have changed.

Both options are subject to a new SUM agreement at current rates.

License replacements are governed by our fair usage policy. For replacements requested within 6 months of license expiry, customers must provide their renewal order.


License Management Rules

  • Perpetual licenses are managed as a single pool β€” you cannot reduce specific license types within the pool.

  • Example: 3 Liquid + 3 Gas Network licenses cannot be reduced to 3 Liquid + 2 Gas.

  • Continuous active SUM is required to maintain perpetual license replacement rights.


New Customers

Perpetual Licenses Perpetual licenses are available on a case-by-case basis for new customers, based on previous purchase history, license value, and SUM commitment.

Annual Lease Licenses are recommended for companies not wanting a long-term SUM commitment. SUM is included for the duration of the lease.


Entitlements Snapshot

A snapshot of all SUM statuses and customer entitlements has been recorded. Eligible customers with active SUM will be contacted regarding additional platform access and entitlements.
