What SUM Covers
Support Updates + Maintenance (SUM) keeps FluidFlow licenses current, supported, and eligible for software updates and license replacement.
SUM includes:
Technical support by email, with a 48-hour response target
Basic modeling assistance and troubleshooting
Major and minor software updates
Complimentary basic on-demand training
License replacement protection
Multi-year renewal discounts if requested
Perpetual license replacement requires active SUM. We can not replace licenses that are out of SUM. Reinstatement terms are outlined below
Perpetual licenses rates
The renewal, reinstatement, and replacement rates below apply to perpetual licenses only. Annual lease licenses work differently and are covered in their own section at the end.
Perpetual SUM — status, renewal rate, and legacy-rate retention
Your status (time since SUM expiry) | Renewal / reinstatement rate |
Continuous active — never lapsed | legacy or discounted legacy rate |
Grace period — 0 to 2 months after expiry | 24% (legacy renewal list price rate) |
Lapsed 2–12 months | 36% of current list price |
Lapsed 12–24 months | 48% of current list price |
Lapsed 24–36 months or lapsed >1 day needing license replacement | 60% of current list price |
Lapsed more than 36 months | 80% of current list price (see the two routes below) |
Any lapse beyond the 2-month grace period permanently forfeits the legacy rate and moves you to the current-list-price rate.
While your perpetual SUM is active, you also receive: a 20% discount on current list prices for new perpetual license purchases; future SUM fee increases capped at a maximum 10% annually for releases in the 3.x series; and perpetual license replacement at no additional cost.
If your SUM lapsed more than 36 months ago, choose one of two routes (both require a new SUM agreement at current rates):
Route | What happens | Commercial treatment |
Reinstate existing perpetual license pool | Restores SUM coverage and replacement rights for the reinstated license pool | Standard reinstatement rate for this lapse tier applies (see "Perpetual SUM — status, renewal rate" table above), includes replacement if required |
Purchase a new license pool | Creates a new perpetual license pool — useful when requirements have changed | Standard new-purchase discount applies (see "While your SUM is active" above) |
Perpetual license replacement fee
Situation | Replacement fee |
SUM active | No fee |
SUM lapsed >1 day | 60% of current list price — this is the same figure as the 24–36 month reinstatement rate, by design |
SUM lapsed more than 36 months | Same two routes as above (reinstate or purchase a new pool) — see the "Perpetual licenses rates" section for the applicable rates. |
Replacement is governed by our fair-usage policy. If a replacement is requested within 6 months of SUM expiry, the customer must provide the renewal order.
License Pool Rules
Perpetual licenses are managed as a single pool. Customers cannot reduce specific license types within that pool.
Example: a pool of 3 Liquid + 3 Gas Network licenses cannot be reduced to 3 Liquid + 2 Gas.
New Customers
Perpetual licenses are available case by case, based on previous purchase history, license value, and SUM commitment.
Annual lease licenses are recommended for companies that do not want a long-term SUM commitment.
Entitlements Snapshot
A snapshot of SUM statuses and customer entitlements has been recorded. Eligible customers with active SUM will be contacted about additional platform access and entitlements.
Lease licenses (separate from the perpetual rates above)
Lease licenses have SUM for the term, and are valid for updates in the 3.x series. License replacement is subject to fair usage policy. If a replacement is requested within 6 months of license expiry, the customer must provide the renewal order.
