What SUM covers
Support Updates + Maintenance (SUM) keeps your FluidFlow licenses current, supported, and eligible for software updates and license replacement.
SUM includes:
Technical support by email, with a 48-hour response target
Basic modeling assistance and troubleshooting
Major and minor software updates
Complimentary basic on-demand training
License replacement protection
Multi-year renewal discounts if requested
Perpetual license replacement requires active SUM. We cannot replace licenses that are out of SUM. The reinstatement rates are shown below.
New perpetual license purchases
This section applies to new perpetual license purchases. If you are an existing customer and you add a license, we apply these terms case by case, based on your history with us.
Perpetual licenses are available case by case, based on previous purchase history, license value, and SUM commitment.
A new perpetual license purchase includes a SUM agreement:
Year 1: 12 months of SUM is included in the license price.
Years 2 to 5: SUM continues under a 4-year agreement. You sign this agreement when you purchase the license.
Your quote shows the license price and the SUM fee for each year. You know your costs for the full 5 years before you buy.
Your initial purchase order must cover the full amount: the license price and the SUM fees for years 2 to 5.
We invoice the license at purchase. We invoice SUM once per year.
The SUM fee increases by a fixed 3% per year from year 2. No other increases apply during the agreement.
After year 5, SUM renews each year at the rate that applies at that time.
The agreement runs for the full term. If you cancel early, the fees for the remaining years stay payable.
If you are an existing customer with active SUM:
You receive a 20% discount on the current list price of the new license.
The discount applies to the license price only. It does not apply to SUM fees.
The SUM fee for the new license uses the current rate. Your legacy or discounted rate stays on the licenses that you already have.
Annual lease licenses are recommended for companies that do not want a long-term SUM commitment.
Existing perpetual licenses with active SUM
Most existing customers pay a legacy or discounted SUM rate. You keep this rate if your SUM does not lapse.
While your perpetual SUM is active:
Your SUM renews each year at your legacy or discounted legacy rate.
We do not require a long-term SUM agreement for your existing licenses.
Future SUM fee increases are capped at a maximum of 10% per year for releases in the 3.x series.
We replace a lost perpetual license at no additional cost.
You receive a 20% discount on current list prices for new perpetual license purchases. See "New perpetual license purchases" above.
To keep your rate, renew before your SUM expires. A 2-month grace period applies after expiry. Any lapse beyond the 2-month grace period permanently forfeits the legacy rate. The current-list-price rates below then apply.
Lapsed SUM: reinstatement rates
These rates apply to perpetual licenses only. Lease licenses have their own section at the end of this article.

If your SUM lapsed more than 36 months ago, choose one of two routes. Both routes require a new SUM agreement at current rates.

Replacement is governed by our fair-usage policy. If you request a replacement within 6 months of SUM expiry, you must provide the renewal order.
License pool rules
We manage perpetual licenses as a single pool. You cannot reduce specific license types within that pool.
Example: a pool of 3 Liquid + 3 Gas Network licenses cannot be reduced to 3 Liquid + 2 Gas.
Lease licenses
Lease licenses are separate from the perpetual rates above. Lease licenses include SUM for the term and are valid for updates in the 3.x series. License replacement is subject to our fair-usage policy. If you request a replacement within 6 months of license expiry, you must provide the renewal order.
