Modelling Steam Traps

Modelling Steam Traps

FluidFlow doesn't have a steam trap node as such however, you can model steam/condensate systems and in doing so, set up the model to solve with or without steam traps. The image below which is taken from the Help file offers a description of this.

Select: Options | Calculation | Gas to choose from these options.

    • Database Fluids - Water and steam

Steam is available in the database and is locked in the gas phase so no matter what temperature and pressure you model "steam", it will remain in its gaseous phase. This was a feature request by several users as they often use steam and add it to ...

When modelling a submersible pump which of course has no suction piping, it is necessary to insert a short section of pipework between the model inlet boundary and the pump suction connection. This is necessary to complete the model connectivity. The ...

FluidFlow contains a "Flexible Smooth or Corrugated Hose" node as shown below. You can add various sizes or classifications if pipe to the database if you wish.

    • Modelling Expansion Tanks

FluidFlow doesn't include or allow an expansion tank to be modeled in-line in a system as this would tend to be a dynamic type of scenario (fluctuating pressure/expansion) whereas in FluidFlow we tend to be solving static system conditions. Queries ...
