Can FluidFlow predict two-phase choked flow conditions?
There are no available correlations in the public domain for the reliable prediction of two-phase choked flow conditions.
The software will solve the conservation of mass, energy and momentum and on this basis, if the model solves with a negative value for static pressure (physical impossibility), a warning is enunciated to that effect which can be indicative of choked flow conditions.

Two-Phase Pipe Heat Transfer at Low Flow Conditions
Let's consider a stainless steel pipe transporting saturated steam. The pipe inlet condition is 6 barg at 165 degrees C with a fixed flow rate at the outlet of the pipe 1 kg/h (0.0002778 kg/s). What we can sometimes see is that even if you set a low ...
Can FluidFlow predict potential blockages in slurry pipelines?
FluidFlow gives a saltation/blockage warning if the pipe is horizontal AND the flowing slurry velocity is below the (maximum) deposition velocity. The deposition velocity varies with slurry concentration and FluidFlow uses the maximum deposition ...
Fan/Blower Performance Curve (Performance Corrections Based on Operating Conditions)
When entering a new fan or blower to the database, we must define if the reference gas volume flow units are based on STP (101325 Pa at 15oC) or NTP (101325 Pa at 0oC) conditions (Figure 1). When we then model the specific blower/fan in a system, ...
Ethylene Glycol Mixture - Solid Phase below 0 Degrees C
If you are modeling a mixture of water and ethylene glycol (water & ethylene glycol) in a system and you have a system operating at temperatures below 0 degrees C (freezing point of water), you may encounter a warning message indicating that "solid ...
Are you able to model two different fluids from a heat exchanger?
Scenario: Say we want to analyze the cooling in a system where we have two separate flows, one of chilled water, and one of warm air to be cooled using the heat exchanger. Answer: In relation to the heat exchangers, we need to create one model of the ...
